It is extraordinarily difficult to find notice of this evening’s “special workshop” on the downtown hotel and proposed demolition of the Birely Tannery. There’s no mention of it in the obvious place under the Historic Preservation Commission’s meetings list on the City website.
See

And there’s nothing about tonight’s meeting under ‘Most Recent Agenda.’
see
http://www.cityoffrederick.com/Archive.aspx?AMID=58&Type=Recent
So there’s no published agenda for tonight’s meeting as legally required.
You can only find notice of the meeting at Weekly Meeting Schedule:
http://www.cityoffrederick.com/551/Weekly-Meeting-Schedule
where this appears:
Thursday – August 31, 2017
6:00 PM- Special Historic Preservation Commission Workshop, City Hall, Boardroom
The state open meetings act and city code require Historic Preservation Commission hearings to be given proper public notice and they require advance publication of an agenda.
Neither appears to have been done for this evening’s meeting.
This was described by the chairman as the last workshop before a formal hearing and vote on demolition of the Birely Tannery.
